How to change yourself from wishing to action

I wish I were slimmer, I wish I were stronger, I wish I were smarter, I wish…, I wish…, I wish…

We can go on and on forever with this WISH LIST…

And the problem is not the wish list itself, is that we measure ourselves to these standards that are not even practical or realistic!

The thing is that some of the wishes can be accomplished, so scheduled them and TAKE ACTION.

But others are just not possible, so be real and GET RID of them, stop wishing for things that are only making you feel bad with yourself.

Turn the wish list into a love list, I love this about me, I love my…, I love doing… Change yourself from wishing to action…

If there is something you don’t love about yourself and you wish it different and you are willing to put the effort, GO FOR IT.

If not, stop wasting your energy into those things that you are not going to do.

Be REAL with what you want.

Be straight forward with yourself.

What are you WILLING TO DO to achieve those wishes?

What are you NOT WILLING TO DO to achieve those wishes?

If you wish to be stronger but you are not willing to do strength training, be honest with yourself.

Maybe you don’t like lifting weights, but you prefer doing other kind of strengthening exercises using your own body weight, so honor yourself!

Don’t feel bad because you are not hitting the gym to lift weights, instead plan your own personalized routine.

If you wish to lose weight but you are not willing to change your diet, ask yourself, is this really something I want to do, or something I think I should do because of some idealistic view of beauty and body type?

If you answer yes to the first question and you really want to lose weight, stop the excuses. What is one thing that you can change today that will get you one step closer?

Analyze if you are the type of person that prefers to start things slowly, or go all in. WHAT WORKS FOR YOU?

For me, I started cold turkey, I went all in when I decided to do the AIP (Autoimmune Protocol), but for other people it works better to start taking things out slowly, and adding up to the full elimination diet.

Know how you operate.

Know what works for you.

Understand your habits, and how you deal with challenges, and how you learn.

Understand your motivations.

KNOW YOURSELF.

If you wish to change some of your old routines and start something new in your life, but you procrastinate and keep on thinking: “I’ll start tomorrow”. Ask yourself, is this IMPORTANT FOR YOU?

If it is, think WHY do you feel resistance to do it. Is it fear? Or, maybe, is that you are trying something that doesn't work for you?

When I wanted to introduce a morning routine in my life, I looked at different ideas, there is a book by Hal Elrod called The Miracle morning I read it and I started applying the ideas in the book.

I was able to wake up early for a few days to follow the routines, but then I stopped.

I tried other different ideas and the same would happen. I’d follow for a while and then I’d stop.

I wasn't MOTIVATED to wake up to do those routines.

Then, I decided to sit down and think about what is that I LIKE to do in the mornings before I go to work.

I started planning my ideal morning routine based on what I like. Not on what others think I should do.

What happened next was that in the mornings I felt motivated to wake up, because I was going to do something that I enjoy.

It wasn't until I discovered what brings me joy that was I able to wake up in the mornings. It just RESONATED with me.

I do the same with exercise. I read about different types of exercise, their benefits, and I study what works best for my goals.

Then, I try and see what is that I enjoy doing that is aligned with my goals.

And because I do something I like, I stick with it.

Have you sat down and figure out WHAT IS THAT YOU ENJOY DOING?

Have you spent any time looking into WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

Or, are you trying to force yourself into exercise programs or routines that don't keep you motivated?

Do you know how you learn best?

Do you honor your way of doing things?

Or, are you trying to follow without thinking about what works for yourself?

This requires effort and time to know yourself.

It requires you to be HONEST and see what are you GOOD at and where you SUCK.

But when you know your strengths and your weaknesses, then you can leverage that information to modify anything so it resonates with you and you get into action.

Because at the end of the day, if you want to get results, you need to take CONSISTENT ACTION.

And to take consistent action you need to leverage what you know about yourself to tap into your MOTIVATION.

So, know WHY you are pursuing your goal, and then, WHAT methods to get there work best for you.

TRY different ideas, and see what moves you forward and keep you going.

Once you find that, GO FOR IT.

Check with yourself regularly to see if still works for you, and if you notice that your motivation starts to go down, STOP and RECALIBRATE.

BE FLUID, be like water, adaptable, always flowing and moving forward but with the ability to change route and adapt to the terrain in front of you.

Now, tell me, what have you found about yourself that helped you stick to your goals and be motivated?

Have you spend anytime to see what your strengths and weaknesses are?

Are you leveraging your own power to move you forward? Do you know how do you learn best?

Let me know your thoughts below!

xoxo,
