4 tips to rethink your beliefs

I didn’t realized how scattered my brain was until I changed my diet. I didn’t know how it was not to feel foggy until I change my habits. I didn’t know that I was perpetually bloated until I wasn’t anymore…

Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know…

You think that what’s happening is normal, so you don’t try to change it, because you simply don’t know better, or because you think that “it is what it is”

Until…until you can’t take it anymore and you start wondering that maybe it doesn’t have to be like this, maybe I can change, maybe I can do something about it, maybe this is NOT normal…

That moment, that exact moment when you shift the way you see the problem, when you start questioning your reality, that is the exact moment of transformation.

It’s exactly at that moment when you change.

Because after you realize that you can change your reality, all that’s left to do is to take action in the new direction. And then, with this new discovered power of change, you get the traction to move ahead and you start to feel empowered…

That’s what happened to me a few years back when I questioned my belief about autoimmune diseases. The moment I decided that there was something I could do about it, I shifted my life.

Until that moment, I thought that once you have a genetic condition, there is very little you can do to change the outcome. I though that I was set for life.

Then I learned about epigenetics and how I could modify my environment and affect my genes. That blew up my mind because all of a sudden, I had control over 75% of the causes that could affect my gene expression…I took that statistic to heart and started researching what were those things in that 75% that I could change…

So I started my journey, I learned, I took action and I experimented. To be honest, I felt like a science experiment but I also felt much more empowered because I noticed results very early in the process.

A week into my new diet, I stopped having migraines, I noticed that I wasn’t bloated, I felt more energetic, my brain was sharper and I didn’t have that foggy feeling that is so difficult to explain. After a few more weeks I started noticing that my concentration was better and my memory was improving.

And, the thing is, before I changed my habits, I wasn’t aware that I had foggy brain or poor concentration or that I was bloated…I had no idea that I could feel so much better because that was all I knew…

Before I changed my lifestyle, I was settling and accepting all my issues, thinking it had to be that way for the rest of my life. But now, I manage my life, so I don’t get those same issues because I know how they affect me…

How does all of this relate to you? What is the point of all this?

Do you have to start a new diet, change your lifestyle, make drastic changes?

No you don’t.

Unless you want to, of course.

My point is that there are times in your life when you might think you cannot change things.

There are times when you might think that “things are the way they are”.

Times where you believe that there is nothing you can do.

But, what if there was something that you can do?

What I learnt in my journey was very powerful. Here are 4 of the tips that helped me to rethink my beliefs:

  1. I learnt to be more CURIOUS, to ask questions, is this true or maybe is there another version to this? Is there something I don’t know?

  2. I learnt to be HUMBLE, is this something I am sure about, or could it be that I am mistaken?

  3. I learnt to be OPEN, is there anything else that I might be missing in this situation? What are others thinking and doing about this?

  4. I learnt that I have CONTROL OVER WHAT I BELIEVE. My beliefs are mine to choose. I can choose to be stuck and believe that I can’t do anything or I can choose to believe that I can do something.

And these lessons are the ones I want you to consider the next time you think that you cannot do anything about something.

☑️ Can you be more curious and ask different questions about your situation?

☑️ Can you consider that maybe you don’t have all the information you need in order to make a decision? That maybe you are missing part of the story? Can you be humble and ask others?

☑️ Can you be open and research other points of view?

☑️ Can you question your own beliefs?

When you start questioning yourself and your beliefs, you’ll start discovering new possibilities and what once you thought was impossible to change, suddenly becomes movable.

That’s the point of your transformation. That’s exactly when you shift and become different. Changing your reality for a new one, shifting your thoughts with new possibilities, opening up yourself to new ideas…you are no longer tied up to your old beliefs. You reinvented yourself.

And the amazing thing that happens next is that when you start thinking differently you start acting differently.

This might seem too complicated, but it doesn’t have to be.

When I understood about epigenetics and I learnt how I could change my environment, I put into practice what I learnt. Then, I started acting differently because I had the new belief that there was something I could do to improve my health. Suddenly I knew that how I behave could change how I feel, so I paid attention and my life improved. I changed my old reality for a new one. And you can do the same too…

Think about your life, is there anything where you currently believe that you can’t do anything about it? Is there an area in your life where you feel stuck? Do you find yourself saying “it is what it is”? Where do you say that?

Pay attention to your thoughts, check where you might be thinking that there is nothing to do, and when you find one of those thoughts, ask yourself, is it true? Is it true that I am stuck, or am I missing something here?

See if you can be more curious, more humble, more open…check what belief is behind your thoughts and see if that belief is serving you or stopping you from moving ahead…maybe is time to create a new belief…

Now let me know, where do you feel stuck, where do you feel you could start questioning yourself?

Share it below, I’d love to hear from you!
